A devotional retail brand wanted its pooja essentials, idols and festival kits in customers' pockets.
Five screens that carry most of the journey — from browsing a deity's collection to reordering last month's pooja items.
BhakthiMart sells the things a household needs for daily prayer and festival days — brass and panchaloha idols, lamps, incense, camphor, kumkum, silk cloth, prasadam ingredients and ready-made pooja kits. The business was already trusted locally, but almost every order arrived by phone call or WhatsApp message, and staff were retyping the same lists into a billing system by hand.
The brief was to move that demand onto an app without losing what made the shop feel trustworthy. Devotional buying is not impulse buying — people care about material, size, weight and authenticity, and they buy the same consumables again and again. So the app needed to be strong in two places most general shopping apps are weak: rich product detail, and effortless repeat ordering.
We delivered a cross-platform app for Android and iOS, an admin panel for catalogue and orders, and a payment and delivery setup the client's small team can run without a developer on call.
We started with how people actually shop for this category, not with a template store. Customers arrive with an intent — a deity, an occasion, or a repeat — so those became the three entry points on the home screen instead of a generic banner carousel.
Product pages were built around evidence: multiple photographs at real scale, material and weight stated plainly, and a size reference so a six-inch idol reads as six inches on a phone screen.
Repeat ordering got first-class treatment. Any past order can be reordered whole, or edited down, from the order history — which is where a devotional store's revenue actually lives.
Finally, the whole interface was built bilingual from the first screen, not retrofitted, so Tamil is a genuine equal to English rather than a machine-translated afterthought.
Each one earned its place by solving something the client's team was handling manually.
Two parallel navigation trees instead of one. Customers can shop a deity's full collection, or everything needed for a specific festival, without wading through the whole catalogue.
Multiple photographs, zoom, and a spec block giving material, height, weight and finish — the details that decide a devotional purchase.
Curated bundles for common poojas and festivals, priced as one item. Customers stop assembling a list from memory and the client raises average order value.
Any previous order can be repeated from order history, in full or edited. The single biggest lever on repeat revenue for a consumables catalogue.
A full bilingual build with a language switch on first launch — every label, error and notification, not just the home screen.
UPI, cards and net banking through an encrypted gateway, plus cash on delivery for customers who still prefer it.
Status from packed to delivered, with push notifications at each stage — which removed most of the "where is my order" calls.
Opt-in alerts ahead of major festival days, linked straight to the matching kit. Demand gets nudged before the rush rather than during it.
Catalogue, stock, pricing, offers and orders in one dashboard the client's own staff run — no developer needed for day-to-day changes.
Phone and WhatsApp orders now arrive through the app, already itemised.
Monthly consumables reorder in a single tap instead of a rebuilt basket.
No more retyping orders into billing — staff time went back to packing and dispatch.
Kits and reminder campaigns let the client capture festival demand ahead of the rush.
Whether you sell devotional goods, groceries, apparel or anything in between, we'll design and build a shopping app your customers actually finish checkout in — and an admin panel your own team can run.
